Odontiasis is a term that might sound a little complicated, but don't worry, I'll explain it in the simplest way possible! So, have you ever lost a baby tooth and then a new tooth grew in its place? That is called the process of dentition, which is a fancy word for the formation and eruption of teeth. Well, odontiasis is a specific term that refers to the normal eruption of teeth, specifically when they break through the gums and become visible in the mouth.

Let's imagine that our mouths are like little gardens, and our teeth are the plants that grow in them. Just like plants need to break through the soil to see the sunlight, our new teeth need to make their way through the gums to show up in our mouths. This is what odontiasis is all about!

Now, I'm sure you're wondering why we even have baby teeth in the first place if they're just going to fall out and be replaced. Great question! Well, baby teeth help us chew our food properly and also play an important role in speech development. As we grow older, our jaw and mouth also grow, creating more space for our adult teeth to come in.
