Discommode means to inconvenience or disturb someone. For example, if someone were to knock on your door when you're trying to take a nap, they would discommode you. Another way to understand it is to think about when you might have been discommoded yourself. Maybe someone asked you for help when you were busy, or someone interrupted you while you were reading a book. That's when you were discommoded.

It's like when you're in the middle of doing something and something else comes along and messes up your plans. It's not a big problem, just a little one, like when you plan to go to the park and then it starts to rain. It's not the end of the world, but it does make things a little less easy for you. That's being discommoded.

So, if someone says, "I hope I'm not discommoding you," they're asking if they're causing you any trouble or inconvenience. And then you can say, "No, you're not discommoding me at all," or "Yes, you are discommoding me a little bit." It's just a fancy way to say "bothering" or "inconveniencing." But now that you know what it means, you can use it yourself when you want to be a little fancy too!
