Caspian Sea for Dummies

Alright, so the Caspian Sea is a really, really big body of water - like, really, really big. It's actually the largest inland body of water in the world, which means that it's surrounded by land instead of being connected to the ocean. The Caspian Sea isn't just any old lake, though - it's so humongous that it's like a giant salty lake, almost like a small ocean.

But it's not actually a sea in the traditional sense, even though it's called the Caspian Sea. See, the word "sea" can be a bit confusing because we usually think of a sea as being part of the ocean, but the Caspian Sea is its own separate thing.
