Tumor is a word that we use to describe an abnormal growth or lump that can develop in our bodies. Now, let's break it down even further so it becomes crystal clear. Imagine your body is like a beautiful garden. Inside this garden, there are cells that help your body grow and function properly. They are like the flowers and plants, all working together to keep your garden healthy.

Sometimes, though, something goes wrong with these cells. They start growing too much, like a wild and unruly weed. These cells don't follow the normal rules that keep our garden in balance. Instead, they start multiplying rapidly and form a mass, which is what we call a tumor. Just like an overgrown weed threatens the beauty and balance of a garden, a tumor can disrupt the normal functioning of our body.

Now, not all tumors are the same - there are two types we should know about: benign and malignant. Imagine the benign tumor as a harmless weed. It grows, but it doesn't spread and take over the whole garden. It may cause some problems, but it usually stays in one place and can be easily removed. Like a weed, it's annoying but not dangerous.

On the other hand, a malignant tumor is like a dangerous, invasive plant that spreads its roots deep into the garden, making it difficult to control. These tumors can invade nearby areas, damaging healthy cells and organs, causing great harm. If it spreads to other parts of the body, we call it metastasis or metastatic tumor. It's like the invasive plant scattering its seeds throughout the whole garden and affecting its balance.

It's important to remember that not all tumors are cancerous. Some tumors are benign and pose little threat to our health, while others are malignant and can be cancerous, requiring prompt medical attention. So, when we use the word "tumor," we are referring to an abnormal growth or lump in our body.
