Reaching for Dummies

Reaching is a word that can have a few different meanings, but at its core, it means stretching out or extending towards something. It's like when you want to grab something that is just out of your reach, you might stretch your arm as far as you can, trying to get closer to it. That action of stretching or extending is what we call reaching.

Let's imagine you're sitting at your desk in the classroom and you drop your pencil on the floor. The pencil falls just a little too far away for you to pick it up without moving from your seat. So, what do you do? You might reach your arm out towards the floor to try and grab it. That movement of your arm, when you extend it towards the pencil, that is reaching.

Not only can we physically reach for things, but we can also use the word in a more figurative sense, like reaching for a goal or reaching for a dream. Think of it as stretching yourself mentally or emotionally, striving to achieve something that might seem difficult or far away. It's like trying to touch the stars in the sky, you have to stretch and reach as high as you can to even get close to them.

So, to put it simply, reaching means stretching out or extending towards something, whether it's physically reaching for an object or metaphorically trying to achieve a goal or dream. It's all about extending yourself, going beyond what is easy or comfortable, and taking that extra step towards something you want.
