Racial Segregation for Dummies
noun
What does Racial Segregation really mean?
Racial segregation means that people of different races are kept apart from each other and are not treated equally. It's like when you have a big bowl of colorful M&M candies, but instead of all the different colors mixing together, someone decides to divide them into separate piles based on their color. Each color has its own pile and they are not allowed to mix or play together. It's as if the red candies have their own separate bowl, the blue ones have their own separate bowl, and so on. This separation can happen in many different places like schools, neighborhoods, or even public places like restaurants and bathrooms. When racial segregation happens, people from different races are not given the same opportunities, rights, or resources. It's like saying that some candies are better or more valuable than others, just because of their color. But that's not fair, right? All the candies are delicious and should be treated equally, just like all people should be treated equally, no matter what color their skin is.
