Prediction is a fancy word that we use to talk about guessing what might happen in the future. It's like when you watch a movie and you try to figure out what is going to happen next. Will the hero defeat the villain? Will they find the treasure? You make a prediction, a guess, based on what you know about the story and how the characters are behaving.

But it's not just in movies that we make predictions. We make them all the time, even without knowing it! For example, let's say you have a favorite toy that you always play with when you come home from school. One day, your mom tells you she bought a new toy for you, and it's a surprise. What do you think the new toy could be? You might start thinking about the things you like and enjoy, like dinosaurs or cars. And based on that, you make a prediction about what the new toy could be. Maybe it will be a cool dinosaur toy or a fancy remote-controlled car!

Or think about when you look outside and see gray clouds in the sky. What do you think is going to happen? Will it rain? You make a prediction based on what you know about how clouds look before rain and your past experiences. Maybe you remember that every time you've seen those gray clouds before, it has rained. So you predict that it will rain again.

Predictions are like educated guesses. We use what we know and what we observe to think about what will happen in the future. It's not magic, but it's a way for us to understand the world and make sense of things. And the more you practice making predictions, the better you become at it! So, don't be afraid to give it a try and make your own predictions about the things happening around you, whether it's in stories, in the weather, or even in your own life!
