Plait for Dummies

Plait is a word that we use to describe a specific way of arranging hair. You might also hear it being called a "braid." Have you ever seen someone with their hair divided into three sections that are then woven together? That's what a plait is! So, instead of just letting our hair hang loose, we can create beautiful patterns by weaving different sections over and under each other.

Imagine you have three different colored strings. Let's say one is blue, one is red, and one is yellow. To make a plait, we would start by taking the blue string and placing it on top of the red string. Then we would take the yellow string and place it on top of the blue string. Finally, we would take the red string and place it on top of the yellow string. We would keep repeating this pattern until we reached the end of the strings. This would result in a plait or a braid.
