Descriptive means to give a detailed description of something. It's like painting a picture with words so that someone can really understand and visualize what you are talking about. When something is descriptive, it's full of details that help you really see and understand it. For example, if I asked you to describe your favorite place, you might use lots of descriptive words to paint a picture of that place in my mind. You would talk about the colors, the smells, the sounds, and the feelings you have when you are there. That's being descriptive!

Descriptive can also mean that something explains or tells you about how something is or what it's like. It's like when you read a book and the author is really good at describing the characters and the setting so that you feel like you're right there in the story. The author uses lots of details to make the story come to life. That's also being descriptive!

So, when we say something is descriptive, it means it's really detailed and explains things so that we can understand them better. It's like creating a movie in someone's mind with the words you use. Keep this in mind as you work on your writing assignments and try to paint vivid images with your words!
