Chloramine for Dummies

So, chloramine is a really cool word that has to do with chemistry. Basically, it's a substance that's made up of chlorine and ammonia. You might have heard of chlorine before - it's what they put in swimming pools to keep the water clean. And ammonia, well, that's the stuff in cleaning products that makes them smell really strong.

So when you put chlorine and ammonia together, you get chloramine. And they use it to clean the water in swimming pools, too. But it can also be found in some household cleaning products. It's kind of like a superhero that fights off germs and bacteria. It's really good at keeping things clean and safe for us to use.

But you have to be careful around chloramine, because it can be harmful if you breathe it in or get it on your skin. So when you see the word “chloramine” on a bottle of cleaning spray, or at the pool, you’ll know that what's inside is a powerful germ-fighter made from chlorine and ammonia, and you should always be cautious around it.
