Bruxelles for Dummies

Bruxelles is the name of a city located in Belgium, which is a country in Europe. So, when we say "Bruxelles," we are talking about a specific place on the map, just like when we say "New York" or "London." It's sort of like calling someone by their first name, but in this case, we are talking about a city.

Now, if we break it down even further, we can see that the word "Bruxelles" actually comes from the Dutch language, which is one of the languages spoken in Belgium alongside French and German. In Dutch, the word for Brussel (which is how they pronounce it) means "marsh" or "swamp." Now, imagine a place with lots of water and wetland areas, kinda like a big swamp. That's where the name Bruxelles comes from!

So, when we say "Bruxelles," we are referring to a city called Brussels, which is located in Belgium and has a history of being a marshy area. It's a place where people live, work, and go to school just like any other city.
