Bootlicker for Dummies

Alright, so "bootlicker" is a kind of funny word but it's not a very nice thing to be called. When someone is called a "bootlicker," it means that they are trying really hard to please someone in authority, usually in a really exaggerated or insincere way. It's like they would do anything to get in the good graces of that person, even if it means doing things that are kind of demeaning or dishonest.

Imagine if you had a favorite teacher, and there was another student who would always tell the teacher how amazing they are and agree with everything they say, even if it's not true. That student might be called a "bootlicker" because they are trying so hard to get the teacher's approval. It's not a great way to be, because it means the person isn't being true to themselves and is just trying to get something out of the person they are bootlicking.

So, if someone calls you a "bootlicker," it's pretty much saying that you're not being authentic and honest, and that you're trying too hard to please someone in power.
