Ascend for Dummies

Ascend is a word that we often use to describe the action of going up or moving upward in a literal or metaphorical sense. When we say someone is ascending, we mean that they are moving higher or climbing up. It's like when you climb up a set of stairs or a ladder, you are ascending.

Now, let's imagine you are standing at the bottom of a tall mountain. The peak of that mountain is way up high in the sky, and it seems impossible to reach. But when you start walking up the mountain, step by step, you are ascending. You are going higher and higher, getting closer to the top. Or when you start playing soccer and join a beginner's team, and then you work your way up to playing on a more advanced team, you are ascending to a higher level of play. So, ascending can mean moving up in a hierarchy or ladder of success.
