Agenesis is a word used to describe a condition where someone is born without a certain body part or organ. It means that the body part or organ didn't develop the way it was supposed to during the person's growth inside their mother's womb. So, it's like when you're building a Lego castle, and you realize that you forgot to put one of the bricks in and now there's a little empty space. Only in this case, it's not a Lego brick, it's a body part or organ.

Now, there can be different kinds of agenesis, depending on which body part or organ we're talking about. For example, some people may have dental agenesis, which means that they have missing teeth. Just like when you're playing a game of puzzle and there's a piece missing, these people may have a gap in their lovely smile because a tooth didn't grow.

On the other hand, some people may have agenesis of the kidneys, which means they were born without one or both of their kidneys. Imagine someone collecting water in buckets, and then suddenly one of the buckets disappears. This is what happens to these people - their body doesn't have the proper system to filter out waste from their blood, which the kidneys normally do.

In addition to these examples, there can be other types of agenesis too, such as agenesis of the limbs (where a person is born without a hand, arm, leg, or foot) or agenesis of the brain (where parts of the brain are missing). So you see, agenesis can affect different parts of the body, and it simply means that something important didn't grow the way it's supposed to.
